Some German lawyers are well-known not only for their work as attorneys or judge but through writing books or appearing in their own tv-series or court shows. Who are some of the most famous German lawyers, who brought it to fame?
Ferdinand von Schirach
Ferdinand von Schirach was born in 1964 in Munich, Bavaria. The son of a businessman is a very famous German defender and author of many best-selling books including Terror. Since 1994, he has his own law office in Berlin where he is a specialist in criminal law. Ferdinand von Schirach defended many famous people such as Federal Intelligence Service spy Norbert Juretzko. He published his first book in 2009 called Verbrechen ( = Crimes) which includes short stories from cases of his own office.

Alexander Hold was born in 1962 in Kempten, Bavaria. In 1997, he was entitled as a judge for a lifetime. He first practiced law as a prosecutor and from 1997 on as a judge in civilian affairs, criminal law and juvenile court judge. In 2001, he started his career as a judge in a tv show called Richter Alexander Hold ( = Judge Alexander Hold), which brought him great success in Germany. In 2012, the broadcaster announced the end of the series. Other than that, Alexander Hold also starred in many other German tv series as a guest actor or appeared in several talk shows.
Alexander Hold is also a politician and author. In 2017, he was a candidate for the elections of the German Federal President for Freie Wähler ( = free voters). He is also the author of books with legal advice for the broader public.
Barbara Ludovika Salesch
Barbara Salesch was born in 1950 in Karlsruhe. The public prosecutor in Hamburg was first in charge of narcotics and later on, also studied criminology. In 1991, Barbara Salesch was appointed chairman and head of department in the Hamburg Judiciary. Between 2000 and 2012, she was a judge for the tv-show Richterin Barbara Salesch ( = judge Barbara Salesch), which made her nationwide famous.
Barbara Salesch is also a painter and sculptor.
Ingo Lenßen was born in 1961 in Krefeld. The studied lawyer and European scientist focused on criminalistic, marriage, family and inheritance law in his profession. He started appearing as a lawyer in the tv-series Richter Alexander Hold and got his own tv-series called Lenßen & Partner in 2003. Since 2014, Ingo Lenßen is running an internet portal called Advopedia, in which he is giving legal advice. Next, to his appearances on tv, the lawyer is also active in a drug prevention initiative and World Vision Germany. Furthermore, he is deputy chairman of the sponsoring association of the Schloss Salem school, a private institution at Lake Constance.
Christopher Bosch was born in 1976 in Kassel. Since 2008, the studied lawyer is running a law firm called Posch together with his father, who was also the former economy and transport minister of Hesse. In 2010, Christopher Bosch got his own tv show called Christopher Posch – Ich kämpfe für Ihr Recht! ( = Christopher Posch – I’m fighting for your right!) with alleged real law cases. Back then, many critics accused him of self-presentation to promote his own law firm.
